The Fallsgrove Doggie Yappy Hour is coming soon! It is a non-profit event, which is free to the public and to dog/pet vendors and animal rescues. We’ve had a successful turnout every year. Vendors/Animal Rescues not only are able to show their products and advertise their services for free at the Yappy Hour, but also interact with residents and potential customers. Vendors’/Animal Rescues’ names will be mentioned in various Yappy Hour ads.
The Doggie Yappy Hour is FREE TO VENDORS with the donation of a prize for our annual Doggie Contest (at 1:00pm at the Yappy Hour). This helps keep costs down for us and allows vendors to become involved in the community. Last year, vendors donated dog products and services from their companies, gift cards, and much more! We thank you in advance for your generous donations! Please note that Animal Rescues and other non-profits, because of their non-profit status, are not required to donate prizes.
We will provide tables for vendors that send in their Participation Form and prize donation by September 31st, 2009. Vendors MUST come 40 minutes (by 11:20 a.m.) prior to the event to help set up and decorate their table. Table location is first come first serve – come early if you want to pick your table location. We can always use help with setting up tables.
Date: Saturday, October 10, 2009 (weather-permitting)
Time: 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Location: 400 Casey Lane, Rockville, MD 20850

Hope to see you there!!!
OK, it’s my turn to promote my cause. On the first Saturday of May each year, GoodDogz.org teams up with Myers PR, the Reston Town Center and RestonDogs to host the annual Reston Pet Fiesta. The event annually draws about 8000 metro DC residents to the Reston Town Center for a day of pet adoption, family fun and a kick ass dog walk. The Pet Fiesta is GoodDogz.org’s primary fundraiser of the year and this year we need your help more than ever. With giving down and pet surrender up, everyone in the animal welfare sector is struggling and GoodDogz.org wants to help bridge the gap where we can.
We’ve spent a lot of time lately helping place dogs left homeless by the economy. We are also working diligently to help families that want to keep their dogs make arrangements. We need your help to continue doing what we do.
By making a $10 (or more) donation to our dog walk, your money goes directly to this mission. It’s tax deductible and can easily, securely be made by Visa, MC, Amex or Discover through Firstgiving.com. Our organizational goal for the event is $10,000. My personal goal is $1,500 – aggressive but attainable with your help.
It’s easy…
- Go to http://www.firstgiving.com/bethbates and make an online donation OR
- Go to http://www.firstgiving.com/GoodDogz, set-up your own pledge page and start collecting pledges.
You can also attend and participate in the ‘Tails on Trails” dog walk if you are in the DC area. We welcome you!!
And last, but certainly not least, if you own a business, you can be a dog walk sponsor by making a donation and receiving promotional considerations. Sponsors need to be signed up by March 21.
A gazillion thanks to everyone who supports GoodDogz.org everyday and a hearty WOOF to our new supporters!
THANK YOU!
Do not miss the first of many fun GoodDogz events to come in 2009! Invite your friends and join us on February 24, 2009, 6:00 P.M. for HAPPY HOUR in honor of SPAY DAY USA!

Home 4 the Holidays a Success
GoodDogz.org rocked the Reston Town Center last Saturday at our Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption event. The weather was gorgeous and we had a steady flow of foot traffic. The event hosted about 20 dog and cat rescue organizations as well as 10 pet retailers selling their holiday wares.
We’ll be compiling the number of animals that were adopted over the next few weeks, but we do know that a new group, K9 Lifesavers, have adopted 20 of the 30 dogs that they brought to the event. A success unto itself.

Meredith, Danielle, Andrea and I had a fantastic time at Spooky Pooch last night. The weather held out (no rain and not freezing cold!) and everyone that participated seem to have a great time. The costumes were incredibly creative and absoutely hilarious. After the judging, we mounted up and marched in the 62nd Annual Vienna Halloween parade. It was loads of fun and as always, the kids loved the dogs. More photos to come – can’t wait until next year! Happy Halloween everyone!
(Liz Esposito and Kramer looked dashing as construction workers!)

The GoodDogz.org team exhibited at the HSUS Taking Action for Animals conference over the weekend in Arlington, VA. An extremely successful event, our team networked with other animal welfare organizations, conference attendees and hosts. We attended the sessions on lobbying for animals and plan to attend the Lobbying for Animals day on Monday. All in all - a great weekend! Thanks HSUS!
Come meet the GoodDogz.org team at the upcoming Taking Action for Animals hosted by The Humane Society of the United States. We will have a booth in the exhibit hall July 19 - July 20 and would love to say hi! We will be featuring our new website and would love to talk to you about dog adoption, animal welfare education and what you can to help homeless dogs.
